My birth philisophy is that Birth is designed to work perfectly even if nobody else is there. The woman's body is divinely created to do the work of pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding without any outside help. That said, it benefits the family to have support through the process and help finding any and all information pertinent to her own particular situation. I believe in the Midwifery Model of Care and think that the choice of care provider and place for birth have profound effect on the birth experience. I have been a birth doula since 2006 and supported friends prior to that. I have been a Lamaze certified childbirth educator and offer classes in either my home or yours. I have experience in many different birth situations, including stillbirth, single parent birth, teen birth and adoption.

My philosophy is that each woman knows her body best and with education, comfort and support, she will make decisions that lead to a positive birth experience. I support women in how and where they choose to give birth and I assist them in their efforts. Every birth unfolds uniquely with each family and it is the support they receive from those around them before, during, and after the birth that aids them in developing self-confidence to care for their new infant. I recognize birth as a significant experience the parents will remember all their life!

My birth philosophy ..... EMPOWERMENT through EDUCATION
CONFIDENCE through KNOWLEDGE
and COURAGE through SUPPORT.
It has been a journey for me to discover my passion for pregnancy and birth. I have been a chiropractor for 11 wonderful years and have dedicated myself to continually learning about how the amazing body works when given a chance to do things without drugs and surgery. I chose to focus my practice toward women and children, and have also performed the Websters breach turning technique with success. I have 2 lovely children without whom I would not have discovered my inner passion for birth. My birth philosophy also includes informing with reliable information, giving a professional opinion when needed or just being there for support. I do not claim to have all of the answers but take pride in the fact that I will search until I find the answer if I do not know. Outside of my chiropractic career, I enjoy working as a Postpartum Doula and as an Early Lactation Care Specialist. I have classes now forming for Natural Childbirth Education and related topics.

As a birth doula, I am passionate about supporting expectant parents in labor and birth physically and emotionally as well as looking after their right to make truly informed decisions about their care. My hope for each of my clients is that they have a positive, empowering birth experience. As a HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator, I am particularly well-suited to assist couples planning to incorporate the HypnoBirthing philosophy and methodology into their birthing, though I gladly support other childbirth programs as well. Establishing a strong relationship with my clients prenatally is important to me, and it gives us the opportunity to lay and build upon the foundation of a positive expectation. I look back on my own three births with joy and look forward to labor and birth (yes, you read that correctly!) with any other children with whom my husband and I may be blessed. I love helping expectant parents in their pursuit of a positive birthing experience for themselves. A mother will forever remember giving birth. I strive, to the best of my ability, to see that each of my clients is able to look back on her own birthing day with joy.

The Doula is a compassionate and empathic reference person who models patience for the birth process and honors the self determination of the new or growing families' parental tier. Many women and their partners have embarked on the birth journey with confidence and determination to bring their newest family member(s) into the world with meaning and compassion. Education and determination to fulfill the ideal parental birth role can provide a good foundation for creating a positive birth experience. They don't, however, take into account the feelings of helplessness that accompany inexperience and the unexpected events that could occur during the birth process. The presence of a birth doula, to provide physical and emotional support during labor and birth, can augment the family self-determination to create a meaningful birth experience; a birth experience that brings positive emotions for the parents and baby to share for a lifetime.

I believe in nurturing the true nature of Birth. Having a baby is so much more than just a physical act. It is an experience that you will remember forever, and I believe that women who surround themselves with caring, trusted supporters become mothers who are excited and transformed by their amazing journey. I enjoy working alongside parents by giving them the informational, physical and emotional support they need, and helping them to find the right tools for their birth toolbox that will serve them for years to come.
