My birth philisophy is that Birth is designed to work perfectly even if nobody else is there.  The woman's body is divinely created to do the work of pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding without any outside help.  That said, it benefits the family to have support through the process and help finding any and all information pertinent to her own particular situation.  I believe in the Midwifery Model of Care and think that the choice of care provider and place for birth have profound effect on the birth experience.  I have been a birth doula since 2006 and supported friends prior to that.  I have been a Lamaze certified childbirth educator and offer classes in either my home or yours.  I have experience in many different birth situations, including stillbirth, single parent birth, teen birth and adoption.

My philosophy is that each woman knows her body best and with education, comfort and support, she will make decisions that lead to a positive birth experience. I support women in how and where they choose to give birth and I assist them in their efforts. Every birth unfolds uniquely with each family and it is the support they receive from those around them before, during, and after the birth that aids them in developing self-confidence to care for their new infant. I recognize birth as a significant experience the parents will remember all their life!

My birth philosophy .....  EMPOWERMENT through EDUCATION

CONFIDENCE through KNOWLEDGE

and COURAGE through SUPPORT.

It has been a journey for me to discover my passion for pregnancy and birth.  I have been a chiropractor for 11 wonderful years and have dedicated myself to continually learning about how the amazing body works when given a chance to do things without drugs and surgery. I chose to focus my practice toward women and children, and have also performed the Websters breach turning technique with success.   I have 2 lovely children without whom I would not have discovered my inner passion for birth.  My birth philosophy also includes informing with reliable information, giving a professional opinion when needed or just being there for support.  I do not claim to have all of the answers but take pride in the fact that I will search until I find the answer if I do not know.  Outside of my chiropractic career, I enjoy working as a Postpartum Doula and as an Early Lactation Care Specialist.  I have classes now forming for Natural Childbirth Education and related topics.

As a birth doula, I am passionate about supporting expectant parents in labor and birth physically and emotionally as well as looking after their right to make truly informed decisions about their care.  My hope for each of my clients is that they have a positive, empowering birth experience.  As a HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator, I am particularly well-suited to assist couples planning to incorporate the HypnoBirthing philosophy and methodology into their birthing, though I gladly support other childbirth programs as well.   Establishing a strong relationship with my clients prenatally is important to me, and it gives us the opportunity to lay and build upon the foundation of a positive expectation.  I look back on my own three births with joy and look forward to labor and birth (yes, you read that correctly!) with any other children with whom my husband and I may be blessed.  I love helping expectant parents in their pursuit of a positive birthing experience for themselves.  A mother will forever remember giving birth.  I strive, to the best of my ability, to see that each of my clients is able to look back on her own birthing day with joy.

As a birth doula I believe I am in a good position to help women have the births they desire, wherever and however they choose.  By taking a personal interest in the client before, during and after the birth, I am able to offer continuity in support by bing accessible as much as needed while maintaining professionalism.

The Doula is a compassionate and empathic reference person who models patience for the birth process and honors the self determination of the new or growing families' parental tier. Many women and their partners have embarked on the birth journey with confidence and determination to bring their newest family member(s) into the world with meaning and compassion. Education and determination to fulfill the ideal parental birth role can provide a good foundation for creating a positive birth experience. They don't, however, take into account the feelings of helplessness that accompany inexperience and the unexpected events that could occur during the birth process. The presence of a birth doula, to provide physical and emotional support during labor and birth, can augment the family self-determination to create a meaningful birth experience; a birth experience that brings positive emotions for the parents and baby to share for a lifetime.

I believe in nurturing the true nature of Birth. Having a baby is so much more than just a physical act. It is an experience that you will remember forever, and I believe that women who surround themselves with caring, trusted supporters become mothers who are excited and transformed by their amazing journey. I enjoy working alongside parents by giving them the informational, physical and emotional support they need, and helping them to find the right tools for their birth toolbox that will serve them for years to come.

Birth is my passion. I became a nurse in 1976 and soon realized that education was the key for expectant parents. My first certification, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, came in 1980 and I also began attending my Clients' births that same year. DONA International began certifying doulas in 1993 and I was certified in 1994. I have been a doula trainer for 12+ years and have begun 13 hospital based doula programs throughout the US. I have had the experience of teaching in many US states and as a doula, have attended 1027 births.

My desire is to serve parents and improve the quality of their birth experience by providing education, comfort, support and assistance in making choices for the labor/birth experience. I believe that the births of your children are the most memorable and significant life experiences that people will ever have. Moms and dads deserve to be fully supported in the choices that they make for themselves. Many times the difference between feeling fulfilled or not will come from the attendants you choose, and the support they give. Having a DOULA assures you that you will have someone by your side "whose only desire is to assist you in accomplishing what YOU desire, a memorable birth experience".

I offer bodywork and support to families throughout the childbearing years.  Fertility massage balances the body and hormones before and between pregnancies.  Prenatal massage meets the needs of your growing, changing body.  As a DONA-trained birth doula, I offer labor support and massage during childbirth.  I bring a calm gentle presence to guide and reassure you during such a difficult and rewarding time.  Once your baby is born, I offer postpartum massage in-home or in-office to help counter the sleepless nights and new challenges.  new dads benefit from massage as well.  In addition, Reiki is a very gentle way to deeply relax, reduce pain, and heal.  Individual sessions and small group classes are available.  I love all of the work I do because I see how much benefit people receive.  It is an honor to be part of the important transitions in your family.

I very much inherited my passion for empowered childbirth. I am the daughter of a midwife, childbirth educator and lactation consultant. As a doula and educator, I consider a good birth one where my clients come out of the experience feeling supported, feeling they have made decisions in line with their own values, and feeling confident as parents. I have been a doula since 2006 and an educator since 2007. I am halfway through nursing school, with plans to become a nurse-midwife.
